AULtec, Inc. uses Global Positional System in Geodesy for Map Projections and Coordinate Datum Transformations in establishing Horizontal and Vertical Datum as basis for our surveying and mapping tasks and needs.

Horizontal Datum may be established in North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) or 1927 (NAD27) per project or jurisdictional requirement in Maryland State Plane system or the Virginia Coordinate System.

Vertical Datum may be established in North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) or National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1927 (NGVD27) using National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) CORPSCON transformation software or using the District of Columbia Department of Public Works (DC DPW) Datum, National Park Service Datum, Baltimore City Vertical Datum or any other local datum per project or jurisdictional requirement.

High-end Dual Frequency GPS Receivers are used to observe both the US and GLONASS satellite constellations. US National Geodetic Surveys’ Online Positioning System (OPUS) is used in the reductions of RINEX files to state coordinate systems for our base-mapping; supplemented by conventional surveying in ALTA/ACSM, Boundary, Topographic, As-built, GIS, Construction Stakeout, Aerial Mapping Panel Point Controls, etc.

THE RESULTING GPS CONTROLS SERVE AS BASIS FOR TRANSFORMATIONS IN:

  • Thematic Mapping
  • Data Management/Data Attribution
  • Utility Mapping
  • Map Production using: ESRI® products, AutoCAD® products, Bentley® products -MicroStation®
